Last month we talked about questions and why asking thinking questions are so important. Are you asking the right questions? I hope that you have worked to implement some of what was discussed into your daily activity. Remember, knowledge without implementation has no value. Gaining knowledge and then applying it to your life is what generates results.

In this month of our Leadership Journal we will dive into establishing goals and what you need to do to be effective at establishing and achieving goals.

Does your organization manage to goals? How many goals do you have? How successful are you at achieving goals? How do you establish goals? Who is involved in establishment of goals? How do you determine the number of goals? What happens if goals are not achieved? Does everyone understand the goals? Do they understand how the goals apply to them? If you say they understand, how do you know they understand? Do they feel like they can impact the goals that have been established? Does each person know what they need to achieve in order to meet the goals? What will happen if the goal is not achieved?

I hope to show you that to be effective in achieving goals we need to be focused, involve everyone, and think carefully through why we picked that goal. The goal or “Success Number” should address a significant challenge or grasp a significant opportunity. It should be a “Success Number” that when achieved, will have a huge positive effect on your organization’s results. It will result in your organization addressing a significant challenge or grasping a significant opportunity.
