Are you fatigued and wondering what is next?
Are you tired? Are you suffering from COVID19 fatigue? Are you unsure where this is all going? Are you confused by the lack of consistent direction? Are you unsure of what you should do? Unsure of when you should go out? Unsure of who you should interact with? Unsure if you should reopen your business? Unsure how to keep others safe?
I think that all of us are suffering from levels of fatigue, experiencing Cabin Fever, mourning the loss of life as we knew it, and wondering and not knowing when it will all end.
The reality is we don’t know when it will end, don’t know what the future will bring, and don’t know what the right answer is. The unknown causes us anxiety and stress and we often take out that frustration on those around us.
When this all started, many of us understood the challenge and thought, we can do this and get through this. We engaged in creative thinking, considered what is possible, and provided assistance to those in need. As it dragged on, our enthusiasm took a hit and the daily grind of life during COVID19 started getting us down.
Start by remembering to take life one day at a time. Everything seems uncertain, but the reality is that we will get through this and make it to the other side. Remember to be flexible and grasp what is true. Go back to the needs you identified when this all started and reassess and redouble your efforts to meet these needs. If you never did this, sit down and look at how you can help others, how you can give back, and what you can do to help all of us get through this crisis. Engage in creative thinking, work to minimize frustrations and grasp opportunities. Take action and provide solutions. Be the beacon of hope and provide the lifeline people need to get through another day and another week. Provide encouragement and support. Ask a lot of questions and get people to look outside themselves and look at what they can do.
Here are some questions to consider:
- As you look at the skills you have, how can you best utilize your skill sets during and after this crisis?
- What additional skills do you need in order to be effective in this new reality?
- How can you use your skills in new and different ways?
- What does your clients or employer need that you can provide for them?
- What can you do to reinvent your job or your business, creating something that can meet the needs of the new reality?
When you focus on how you can reinvent yourself so that you can give back and help others, you begin to look at life in a new and different way. Take action and make a difference and this will result in a change in attitude.
What are you doing today to positively impact the life of someone close to you?
